Joshua Tree - New Single Family Home / Vacation Compound

Overlooking the Panamint Range of Joshua Tree National Park, this new single family vacation compound is an oasis away from urban life, close to nature and pristine night skies.   The architecture needed to be rugged, designed to withstand the challenging desert climate while being welcoming and in harmony with the beauty of the natural environment.  We chose simple boxy adobe style volumes contrasted by delicate wood trellis work to echo the landscape of rock piles and lacework of native creosote and teddy bear cholla.  The floorplan arranges the public rooms with an expansive trellis covered terrace facing south to the stunning views of the Panamint Range. The more private 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom face north towards the more secluded yet bold views of the surrounding rock outcroppings.  Each indoor space has a simpatico outdoor terrace to emphasize the strong connection the home has to nature and the outdoors.
