In Southern California, we have a vibrant architectural history and are fortunate that Historic Preservation is such an important and ever growing part in the preserving and shaping of our urban environment. Louisa Van Leer Architecture has the preservation design expertise to both help sensitively and beautifully design your historic project and to guide your historic project forward through the essential yet sometimes onerous technical review process.We have design experience with a variety of local City of Los Angeles and City of Pasadena historic preservation programs as well as our national Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Historic Preservation Projects. We have worked extensively on design projects located within City of Los Angeles Historic Preservation Overlay Zones (HPOZ’s) and understand the requirements and work effectively with HPOZ design review boards. We have experience in preparing a variety of technical filings required to build in HPOZ’s including Certificate of Compatibility/Appropriateness applications and preparing CEQA Findings reports for historic properties. We also prepare Historic Structures Reports, Cultural Landscape Reports, Master Plans and have experience with Mills Act Property Tax Abatement Program for historic properties. We work with historians, preservation contractors, engineers and other specialists to assemble comprehensive preservation materials tailored to the specific needs of each project.
