Highland Park Studio Apartment Conversion

We worked with our client to create income property within an existing two story single family home by converting the existing semi above ground basement into a legal Attached Accessory Dwelling Unit. By adding well positioned glass doors and large window openings we were able to convert the dark basement into a light filled studio apartment. We also took advantage of exposing existing 1940’s board formed concrete walls and polishing the existing concrete floors to create a sleek interior environment, warmed up by original timber column and beam details. The new studio apartment opens onto its own lush garden to create both a lovely outdoor space for the new studio while enhancing privacy for the single family area and a balance of public and private space.
